Boston Cruise Port Guide: Flynn Cruiseport Terminals, Parking, and Hotels

Big-ship cruises from Boston leave from one building: Flynn Cruiseport Boston, also known by its older name, the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal. It sits at 1 Black Falcon Avenue in the Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park, on the eastern edge of the Seaport District, about 2.8 miles from Logan International Airport.

That short distance is the good news and the trap. Holland America estimates the drive from Logan at 45 to 60 minutes depending on traffic, because the route runs through the Ted Williams Tunnel and the Seaport's busiest streets. If you plan your Boston cruise port day around the traffic rather than the mileage, embarkation here is one of the easier ones on the East Coast.

Which Cruise Lines Sail From the Boston Cruise Port

Boston is a seasonal homeport. Ships arrive in spring, run Bermuda and Canada and New England itineraries through summer, and finish with fall foliage sailings before repositioning south for the winter.

Norwegian Cruise Line has had the most departures. Its 2026 schedule listed Norwegian Breakaway on seven-night Bermuda roundtrips and seven-night Canada and New England roundtrips running into October. Check which Norwegian ship is assigned to Boston for 2027 before you plan around a specific ship. If Bermuda is on your list, my Bermuda cruise guide covers the dock at Royal Naval Dockyard, and my post on the best time to cruise Bermuda covers which months I would pick.

Holland America Line and Celebrity Cruises use Boston mainly for Canada and New England voyages, including one-way sailings between Boston and Montreal or Quebec City. Princess Cruises has also listed Boston departures on Quebec City routes, so it is worth checking current Princess Cruises offers if those dates suit you. Luxury lines such as Oceania Cruises run similar routes, and American Cruise Lines runs small-ship New England coastal trips; confirm the boarding point for those, since small ships do not always use Flynn Cruiseport. My Canada and New England cruise guide walks through the ports these ships visit, from Bar Harbor to Halifax.

Pro Tip: A one-way Boston to Quebec City cruise ends in Canada, so every passenger needs a valid passport. A closed-loop roundtrip from Boston has more flexibility, and my cruise documents guide spells out what each sailing type requires.

I book these Boston departures every season, and the fall foliage weeks are the ones I would price first. If you want late September or early October, lock in a cabin early rather than waiting for a sale.

When To Arrive at the Boston Cruise Port

Your cruise line assigns an arrival window when you check in online, and that window is the time to aim for. The terminal is a single building, so showing up early mostly means waiting in a line that did not need to exist yet.

Build your day backward from that window. From downtown or the Seaport hotels, the ride is short. From Logan, give yourself at least an hour even though the map says 2.8 miles. If you are driving in from elsewhere in New England, budget for I-93 and Mass Pike traffic, and check the day of the week your ship departs, since a weekend morning and a weekday morning are very different drives.

I never recommend flying into Boston on the morning of a cruise. One delayed connection can cost you the ship, and a missed ship is far more expensive than a Seaport hotel room. My embarkation day tips cover the rest of the routine, from carry-on bags to the first hour on board.

Boston Cruise Port Parking and Drop-Off

Parking at the Boston cruise port is handled through Massport and the neighboring marine park. Cruise parking is split between the EDIC Parking Garage at 12 Drydock Avenue and the Cruiseport open-air C1 lot at 93 Fargo Street. Both run a courtesy shuttle to the terminal. The open-air lot has required reservations made online before arrival.

Massport sets the daily and weekly rate each season, and it can change, so check the current figure on the Flynn Cruiseport Boston parking page before you go. For a seven-night sailing, compare that total against a round-trip rideshare from your hotel or from home.

For drop-off, follow Drydock Avenue and turn onto Black Falcon Avenue. Officers direct cars to the passenger drop-off area at the terminal. Drop your bags and passengers first, then have the driver park, which keeps the whole group out of the shuttle line with luggage.

Pro Tip: If you are driving down from New Hampshire or Maine, price a Seaport hotel with a park-and-cruise package against a week of port parking, since it also buys you a calm morning. Ask the hotel directly, since these packages change each season.

Getting to the Boston Cruise Port From Logan and Downtown

OptionTypical cost (as of October 2026)Best for
Taxi, Uber, or Lyft from LoganAbout $40Couples and families with bags
MBTA Silver Line SL1 from LoganFree from the airportLight packers heading to a Seaport or downtown hotel first
MBTA bus to the portStandard MBTA fareSolo travelers staying near South Station
Cruise line transferVaries by line and sailingAnyone who wants the line responsible for timing

A taxi or rideshare is the simplest choice for most travelers. The MBTA says service on the Silver Line SL1 from Logan is always free, and it stops at every airport terminal before running to South Station. That is useful if you are staying in the Seaport or downtown the night before, though dragging two large suitcases onto a crowded bus is nobody's idea of a vacation.

The cruise line's own transfer costs more than a rideshare in most cases. What you buy is a guarantee that the ship knows you are coming if your flight runs late.

Hotels Near the Boston Cruise Port

The Seaport District is the obvious base. Massport lists nearby hotels on its Flynn Cruiseport site, and the closest cluster sits around the convention center and the waterfront, including the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport, the Seaport Hotel Boston, and the paired Aloft and Element by Marriott Boston Seaport District. From any of them, the ride to Black Falcon Avenue is a few minutes outside rush hour.

Downtown and Back Bay hotels add some drive time on embarkation morning but put you closer to the Freedom Trail, Newbury Street, and the North End if you want a full day in the city. Points travelers should price both neighborhoods, because the Seaport sits beside the convention center and its rates move with the event calendar.

Things To Do Near the Boston Cruise Port With Extra Time

Boston rewards a pre-cruise day more than most homeports, because so much of it is walkable from the Seaport. The Institute of Contemporary Art sits on the Seaport waterfront. The Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum is on the Fort Point Channel. Cross the channel and you are at the start of a walk to Faneuil Hall, the North End, and the Freedom Trail.

If you would rather have a guide, harbor cruises, Freedom Trail walking tours, and food tours in the North End are easy to book on Viator. Pick something that ends by mid-afternoon on your arrival day, and keep embarkation morning free.

After a sailing, the timing works in reverse. There is no luggage storage at the pier, so if you have a late flight, ask your hotel to hold bags or plan your day around the suitcases.

Boston Cruise Port Compared With Other East Coast Homeports

Boston is a smaller, seasonal port with one terminal, which keeps it simpler than New York, where you choose between Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Bayonne. My New York cruise port guide covers that three-terminal puzzle. For winter Caribbean sailings, many of the same ships move south to Florida, and my guides to the PortMiami cruise terminals and Port Everglades terminals pick up where this one leaves off.

Book Your Boston Cruise With Jackson Jetsetting

My pricing is the same as booking direct. On top of that, I can often add group rates or promotions that never show up on the cruise line's website, and you have a person to call when a Logan flight slips or a foliage-season cabin category sells out. Send me your dates, and I will price the cruise, the Seaport hotel, and the transfer as one trip.
