Celebrity Cruises Concierge Class Changes: Canapés Out, Free Room Service In
If you have watched my Celebrity ship tours on YouTube, you know Concierge Class is the category I get asked about more than any other on this cruise line. It sits one step above a standard veranda stateroom, and the question is always the same: is the upcharge worth it? Celebrity Cruises just changed the answer a little. Starting with sailings that depart after September 21, 2026, the afternoon canapés are gone, and two new perks take their place. A separate change earlier this summer raised the daily gratuities Concierge Class guests pay. Both updates are covered below, along with what I tell my own clients when they ask whether to book Concierge Class or stick with a regular veranda.

What Celebrity Cruises Removed From Concierge Class
The headline change is the end of the Daily Delights afternoon canapés. For years, Concierge Class guests came back to their stateroom in the late afternoon to find a small plate of bites waiting on the desk. Some sailings did this well. Plenty of others delivered a plate of crackers, a few cubes of cheese, and something wrapped in prosciutto that had been sitting under plastic for a while. If you have sailed Concierge Class more than once, you probably have an opinion about those plates, and it is probably not a strong one.
Celebrity has not published a reason for dropping the canapés, and the line has not issued a press release about the change. The update appeared through Celebrity policy communications and on the Concierge Class stateroom page of the Celebrity website, where the amenity list no longer mentions canapés or Daily Delights at all.
What Celebrity Cruises Added to Concierge Class
Two perks replace the canapés. The first is the bigger one: complimentary room service with the delivery fee waived. Celebrity charges a $9.95 service fee per room service order, and Concierge Class guests will no longer pay that fee. If you like breakfast on the veranda or a late plate after a show, the savings add up quickly over a seven-night sailing. The second addition is two complimentary bottles of water delivered on embarkation day.
Celebrity is swapping one benefit for two, and the trade favors most guests. The canapés were a fixed-value perk that many people ignored. Waived room service fees scale with how much you use them, which makes the benefit worth more to the guests who actually order.
Pro Tip: Order room service breakfast the night before with the door hanger card. On sea days, the Oceanview Café line at 8:30 a.m. is the busiest spot on the ship, and a veranda breakfast in Concierge Class now costs nothing extra.
Celebrity Concierge Class Benefits After September 21, 2026
Every other Concierge Class benefit remains in place. Based on the current Celebrity stateroom listing, guests still receive:
- Exclusive Welcome Aboard Concierge Class Lunch in the main dining room on embarkation day
- Personalized concierge service for dining, shore excursions, and specialty restaurant reservations
- One bottle of sparkling wine per cruise, on request
- Main and specialty restaurant seating preference, subject to availability
- A pillow menu, eXhale bedding, and a Celebrity embossed key holder
- An exclusive destination seminar on most sailings
- 24-hour room service, now with the delivery fee waived
The stateroom itself has not changed. Concierge Class cabins on Celebrity Edge, Celebrity Apex, Celebrity Beyond, Celebrity Ascent, and Celebrity Xcel use the Infinite Veranda design with the floor-to-ceiling window that lowers to open the room to the sea. On the Solstice and Millennium class ships, Concierge Class staterooms have a traditional veranda with lounge seating. On many ships, the Concierge Class cabins are simply the best-located veranda staterooms, on higher decks and closer to midship, and that location has always been part of what you pay for.
Celebrity Cruises Gratuity Increase and Concierge Class
The second piece of news is older but hits the same guests. On July 29, 2026, Celebrity raised its automatic daily gratuities by $1.50 per person across every stateroom category. Concierge Class and AquaClass guests now pay $20.50 per person per day, up from $19.00. Standard staterooms moved to $19.50, and The Retreat moved to $24.50.

For a couple on a seven-night Concierge Class sailing, the new rate comes to $287 in gratuities, $21 more than before the increase. Celebrity allowed guests with existing bookings to prepay at the old rate before sailing, and that window has mostly closed for sailings booked this summer. If you booked recently through my agency, I already checked whether prepaying made sense on your reservation. If you booked elsewhere, log in to your Celebrity account and look at the gratuities line before you sail.
Put the two changes together and the picture is clear. Concierge Class guests are paying a little more per day in gratuities and losing a snack plate, while gaining free room service delivery. For anyone who orders room service more than twice on a cruise, the math still lands in their favor.
Is Celebrity Concierge Class Still Worth It?
This is the question I get in nearly every Celebrity consultation, and the answer depends on the price gap on your specific sailing. Concierge Class typically runs $150 to $400 per person more than a standard veranda for a seven-night cruise, though on some sailings the gap is under $100 and on others it balloons past $500.
When the difference is small, Concierge Class is an easy yes. The embarkation lunch alone solves the worst part of boarding day, the concierge gets you into Eden or Le Voyage on the night you want, and you now get free room service for the whole week. When the difference is $400 or more, I usually steer clients toward a standard veranda in a good location and suggest they spend the savings on a specialty dining package or a shore excursion.
AquaClass is the other comparison worth making. It sits at the same gratuity level as Concierge Class and includes access to Blu, the private restaurant that many Celebrity regulars consider the best included dining on the ship, along with the spa-focused amenities. If dining is your priority, AquaClass often beats Concierge Class at a similar price.
Pro Tip: Compare Concierge Class against AquaClass, not only against a standard veranda. On the Edge-class ships, the price gap between the two is often small, and Blu is a big upgrade over the main dining room.
Five Tips I Give Every Client Booking Celebrity Concierge Class
- Check the sail date against September 21, 2026. If your cruise departs on or before that date, you still get canapés and you still pay room service fees. Anything departing after it falls under the new rules.
- Use the Welcome Aboard lunch. It is served in the main dining room on boarding day while the buffet is packed, and it remains the single best Concierge Class perk.
- Book specialty dining through the concierge on day one. The concierge desk has access to tables the app does not show, especially on Edge-class ships.
- Verify your gratuity rate. Some bookings made before July 29, 2026 were locked at the old rate if prepaid. Check your reservation before sailing.
- Price it with an agent. Concierge Class fares move constantly, and the same cabin category can be priced very differently a few weeks apart. I watch these fares daily for my clients.
