BOTTOM LINE

Disney's All-Star Sports Resort is one of the cheapest ways to stay on Walt Disney World property, and the recently refurbished rooms make it a much better pick than it was a few years ago. It suits budget families who want park perks like Disney bus transportation and early park entry without paying deluxe prices. The catch is that it is big, spread out, and light on frills, so set expectations before you book.

I have stayed at plenty of Disney resorts across every price tier, so I wanted to see what the least expensive on-property option actually delivers in 2026. All-Star Sports is a Disney value resort, which is Disney-speak for the budget end of the on-site lineup. That means lower nightly rates, larger-than-life theming, and the same core benefits every Disney hotel guest gets.

On this visit I toured a standard room in the Centre Court tennis section, walked the food court, and checked out the pools and grounds. Here is my full take on whether the savings are worth the trade-offs.

Booking Disney's All-Star Sports Resort

Disney hotels do not participate in a hotel points program, so there are no free-night awards to chase here the way there are with Hyatt, Marriott, or Hilton. You book directly with Disney and pay cash, and the value resorts are typically the lowest published rates on property. Watch for Disney's seasonal room offers and general-public discounts, which can knock a meaningful chunk off the rate during slower windows.

Since you are paying cash, the smart move is to book through a card that earns strong points on travel and offers solid protections. All-Star Sports guests still get the on-property perks that matter most: complimentary Disney bus transportation to all four parks and Disney Springs, early theme park entry every day, and the ability to link everything in the My Disney Experience app.

Best cards for booking

Because there is no hotel loyalty program to optimize here, the cards I would reach for are the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Capital One Venture X, and The Platinum Card from American Express.

Location

All-Star Sports sits in the Animal Kingdom area of Walt Disney World, clustered together with its sister resorts All-Star Music and All-Star Movies. You are close to Disney's Animal Kingdom and Blizzard Beach water park, and the Disney bus network connects you to everything else on property.

The trade-off with the value resorts is that they tend to be among the first stops picked up and the last dropped off on shared bus routes, so budget a little extra travel time in the mornings. If you are relying entirely on Disney transportation, this is the main thing to plan around. In practice the buses come often and ran flawlessly on my visit — just budget the time. If you’re driving instead, this resort is built for it: parking is free, the lots wrap around every building cluster, and staying on property gets you free parking at the theme parks too.

Lobby and Check-In

The lobby lives inside Stadium Hall, the resort's central building, and it doubles as the hub for the food court, gift shop, and bus stops. Check-in was quick and friendly, and Disney's online check-in through the app means you can often skip the front desk entirely and head straight to your room once it is ready.

The theming leans loud and playful, with sports icons everywhere you look. It is clearly built for families with kids, and it sets the tone the moment you walk in.

The Room

I toured a standard room in the Centre Court tennis section, and the recent refurbishment across the value resorts has made a real difference. The updated rooms swap the old carpet for a modern hardwood-style floor, add space-saving storage nooks, and include a fold-away bed that helps a small footprint feel more usable. The refurb shows in the details: USB-C outlets by the beds, a fold-down side table on the Murphy bed, Mickey, Minnie, and Donald artwork above it (Disney-themed rather than sports-themed, my one small nitpick), a sports-motif headboard, and drip Joffrey’s coffee at the desk — the Keurig pods stay at the pricier resorts. Even the toiletries have a story: Disney bought the H2O+ products line, so it’s the same formula now wearing Disney branding, and the water pressure was solid.

A sliding barn-style door now separates the sleeping area from the bathroom and vanity, which is a smart touch for families getting ready at the same time. These are still value-resort rooms, so they are compact and functional rather than luxurious, but they feel fresh and well thought out. For a family that plans to spend nearly all day in the parks, the room does its job well.

Pools and Amenities

All-Star Sports has two main pools. The Surfboard Bay Pool is the resort's headline pool with a surf theme, and the Grand Slam Pool is shaped like a baseball diamond and features a Goofy fountain that sprays swimmers. Note that pools at Disney resorts do periodically close for seasonal refurbishment, so it is worth checking the current status before you count on a specific one.

Beyond the pools, you get an arcade, a gift shop, and the wide-open themed courtyards that give the resort its personality. There is no spa, no full-service sit-down restaurant, and no elaborate grounds here, and that is by design at this price point. The theming punches way above the price tag, though: the baseball-diamond pool has Goofy spouting in the middle, a scoreboard, Coca-Cola-sponsored stairwells, bleachers built above what might be my favorite themed bathrooms in all of Walt Disney World, and real grass beside the pool for games. Over at the Surf’s Up section — the largest pool, complete with surf music and a hot tub — look down and you’ll notice boardwalk-style pavement with seashells pressed into the concrete and shark fins guarding the elevators. Just know the value resorts skip the water slides.

Food and Drink

Dining at All-Star Sports centers on the End Zone Food Court, which is set up like a mall food court with stations for different meals. You will find pizza, pasta, burgers, breakfast plates, grab-and-go items, and desserts, plus refillable resort mugs for the length of your stay. Breakfast covers the classics — Mickey waffles, scrambled eggs, and a machine-made barista coffee station where I grabbed my usual iced Americano — and the indoor-outdoor bar pulls double duty as the pool bar with a typical Disney cocktail menu. The space got a fresh renovation too, with the new-style Mickey cartoons from Disney+ decorating the walls, and the big arcade across the way even runs competitions throughout the day.

There is also a pool bar for drinks and quick bites near the water. If you want a proper sit-down restaurant, you will need to bus over to another resort or a park, since the value resorts stick to quick service. For a family that eats most meals in the parks anyway, the food court is a convenient and budget-friendly base.

Service

Service matched what I expect from Disney value resorts, which is friendly, efficient, and geared toward families. Cast members at check-in and around the food court were helpful, and the online check-in flow kept things moving.

You will not get the personalized touches of a deluxe resort here, and that is fair given the price. What you do get is the reliable, well-run Disney operation that keeps a huge resort functioning smoothly.

The resort is divided into five sports-themed areas: Surf's Up, Hoops Hotel, Touchdown, Centre Court, and Home Run Hotel. Each one features oversized sports decor.

Bottom Line

Disney's All-Star Sports Resort delivers exactly what a value resort should: a low rate, the on-property perks that matter, and a refreshed room that finally feels current. For a family focused on park time and stretching the budget, that is a solid combination.

Just go in knowing what you are getting. This is a large, spread-out, bus-dependent resort with quick-service dining and bold theming, not a relaxing retreat. If those trade-offs fit your trip, All-Star Sports is one of the best budget picks on Disney property.
