Hyatt Ziva Cancun Review and Tour

The Hyatt Ziva is one of our family’s favorite resorts in Mexico- see why this all-inclusive resort in the Cancun Hotel Zone is our top pick for your next Cancun vacation! Below, you’ll see our video from our four nights on property, reviewing everything and doing a full walkthrough tour of the resort!

How We Paid

We used points for our stay, at 25,000 World of Hyatt points a night, which sadly is no longer possible, as Hyatt has changed their all-inclusive award chart. Standard rooms now cost either 35,000 in off-peak, 40,000 for standard dates, and 45,000 for peak dates for two people, with extra people costing 20,000 points a night. As you can see, the new costs vastly outweighs the previous chart’s value. Cash rates hover around $500 a night, which is a much better price than using points.

Location

The Hyatt Ziva Cancun is located on the best spot of Cancun’s Hotel Zone, in our opinion. Cancun’s main resort area juts out into the ocean with an elbow. The Hyatt Ziva sits right on the elbow, allowing the resort to have two different beaches with two different views. It’s about a 20 minute drive from Cancun International Airport, as long as there’s not traffic, which there often is on the main Kukulcan road. The resort has 547 rooms spread out over three main hotel towers. The Turquoize tower hosts the adults-only experience at the resort, with its own pool and direct spa access. Another tower hosts the Hyatt Club lounge, which is open to club-level guests as well as elite members. There’s also views of the resort’s dolphin habitat from the third, oldest, tower.

Check-In

If you are booked in the Turquoize tower, you’ll have airport transportation included. We booked a transfer beforehand through Viator, which is always cheaper than booking direct through the hotel, but more stress-free than a taxi. Once we arrived at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun, bellmen assisted with our luggage and we were escorted to the check-in area, where there was a special World of Hyatt elite line for Globalists. There are also some reports of being checked in at the Turquoize Tower, but this worked. We received a welcome beverage (full bar is available, as this is an all-inclusive, after all!), and were escorted with our luggage to our room. For this trip, we had a dolphin-view room, booked on points, and since it was a busy weekend, didn’t receive an upgrade beyond that.

The Room

We’ve stayed several times at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun, and this was our first time in the Dolphin tower with a Dolphin view room. For me, I preferred the Turquoize tower, which also featured a soaking tub on our balcony and views of the Caribbean, but it was novel to have a view of the dolphin enclosure.

The rooms have definitely been re-done since we stayed, as everything felt very fresh and new. A giant new television was available during breaks from the heat, and an oversized bathroom with shower and separate tub provided tons of extra room for the two of us.

Things to Do at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun

Since the Hyatt Ziva Cancun is an all-inclusive resort, there are tons of activities throughout the day on property, like game shows, poolside entertainment, and an evening show each night. Some entertainment was better than others, but it was sort of like a cruise ship on land in that you had plenty of things to do at your fingertips.

In addition to the scheduled activities, you have two beaches to choose from at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun. The north-facing beach had calmer waves most of our stay and featured a floating iceberg for families to climb on. The south facing beach had great views of the famous stretch of resorts in Cancun and was fun to walk down in the mornings and evenings.

There are several pools on property- the main resort pool where most of the entertainment happened, the Turquoise Tower’s pool which was slightly elevated and had its own bar, and the club pool, which we liked because it had more shade during the day provided by the tower it sat underneath.

There is also a sports bar with pool table and other bar games for late night fun, and a nightclub that we didn’t partake in.

Food and Drink at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun

For an all-inclusive, the food and drink at the Hyatt Ziva is outstanding. At the Hyatt Ziva Cancun, guests can embark on a culinary journey that will enchant their taste buds. The resort offers a range of sophisticated restaurants, each with its own unique flavors and ambiance. Experience the vibrant tastes of Mexico at La Bastille, where traditional Mexican flavors are brought to life. Indulge in an unforgettable seafood feast at Tradewinds, where the freshest catch awaits. For a more relaxed dining experience, head to Habaneros and savor the flavorsome dishes in a casual setting.

In addition to the exceptional cuisine, the resort also boasts a remarkable drink selection. Whether you prefer cooling off with a refreshing cocktail by the poolside at The Tower Bar or unwinding with a glass of fine wine at the elegant Tres Cervezas Lounge, you'll find the perfect drink to complement your meal.

Impeccable attention to detail and a commitment to culinary excellence define the dining experience at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun. The resort's dedication to providing a memorable experience is evident in every aspect of their restaurants. From the carefully crafted menu options to the outstanding service, guests can expect nothing less than a dining experience that is truly unparalleled.
