Wonder of the Seas Review: The Best Ship From Royal Caribbean?

After a seven-night voyage on Wonder of the Seas, and several years of sailing Royal Caribbean for my YouTube channel, I have collected a lot of ways to save money and time on a cruise like this one. This Wonder of the Seas review covers the ship's stats, the deck plan and best cabins, the dining, the new neighborhoods, and tips tailored to Wonder, with a few that apply to Royal Caribbean in general, all aimed at getting you the most out of your vacation for the least money.

Quick Take: Is Wonder of the Seas Worth It?

Yes, and she is one of my favorites in the fleet. Wonder launched in 2022 as the fifth Oasis-class ship and the largest in the world at the time, so everything is fresh and she adds two things her older sisters do not have: an eighth neighborhood, the Suite Neighborhood, and the kids' Wonder Playscape.

She is best for families and suite guests who want the newest Oasis-class experience. A caveat: she sells out at close to 6,990 guests at full capacity, so book your dining and shows early or you may spend your cruise in lines. Plan ahead, and she is an excellent choice for your next vacation.

Tip #1: Book Far in Advance

Wonder of the Seas is a massive ship, with close to 6,990 passengers on board when she is completely sold out, and these ships are selling out, cruising is very popular right now. Booking one or two years out typically gets you the best pricing. Once you book, download the Royal Caribbean app, link your reservation to your account, and start booking your shore excursions and onboard activities.

My biggest piece of advice: book the experiences you want when the price looks right, because if the price drops later you can cancel and rebook completely free.

Royal runs frequent sales, especially around holidays like Black Friday and Christmas. So lock something in if you like the price, and just remember to cancel and rebook before your cruise if it goes lower. The app also gives you a SetSail Pass you can add to your phone's wallet, which gets you on board fast.

Tip #2: Book Shows About 60 Days Out

Around two months before your cruise you can book the shows and entertainment. It is not perfectly clear exactly when that window opens, so try to nail the date down and book early, because a lot of people on board want to see the shows too.

Wonder has some great ones: the inTENse stage show, the AquaTheater high-diving and acrobatics show, and the ice-skating show in Studio B. Comedians can be harder to book since the venue is small, but they do a lot of shows during the cruise, so you will get in if you want to.

Tip #3: Know the Free Dining (and the Secret Spots)

There are a lot of complimentary dining options included in your fare. The main dining room is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner on sea days (usually breakfast and dinner on port days, check the app for the exact schedule). Water, teas, and lemonade are included; alcohol, sodas, and specialty coffees go on your account. Up on the Royal Promenade you have Sorrento's and Cafe Promenade for free bites, El Loco Fresh on the pool deck is a great Mexican spot open most of the day, and there is the Park Cafe in Central Park.

A couple of secrets: Johnny Rockets does a free breakfast, and the Solarium Bistro is my pick over the Windjammer, a lot of people never find it, though it was busy on my sold-out sailing. The Windjammer is the famous buffet, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with tasty food, but the Solarium Bistro is the quieter, prettier option up in the adults-only Solarium.

Tip #4: Do the Specialty Dining Math

Royal will try to squeeze every dollar out of you, and the specialty restaurants are enticing. I always like the unlimited dining package. On my seven-night cruise I paid $249 and got a specialty restaurant every evening, there are several specialty venues on board plus some a la carte spots, and the package also covers lunch on embarkation day and your sea days.

It is a great deal. The lineup includes Chops Grille, 150 Central Park, Wonderland, Hooked seafood, Izumi, and Mason Jar Southern Restaurant, which is new to Wonder. My favorites are Chops Grille, 150 Central Park, and on Wonder I really loved Hooked, the seafood restaurant.

Tip #5: Booking Excursions Through the Ship Can Save You

For excursions, booking through the ship can actually save you money now, Royal has lowered a lot of excursion prices because they were losing revenue to independent operators, so they have undercut themselves, which is great for us. Booking the official excursion means you will never miss the ship, it charges to your account, and you do not need cash ashore unless you want to buy something on your own.

The ship organizes everything and tells you where to go, so it is super easy. That said, in port-heavy places like Cozumel you can research the forums and book on your own, or just walk around the ports and have a great time without an excursion at all.

Wonder of the Seas Deck Plan and Best Cabins

Cabin selection is where this ship rewards a look at the Wonder of the Seas deck plan, because the Oasis class has several balcony types. I had an inside cabin on this cruise and loved it. The Oasis-class ships even have interior rooms that overlook the Royal Promenade for an indoor view, and I have had an inside cabin above the Boardwalk with a partial ocean view, which I loved. Most people, though, will want a balcony.

Just be careful: there is the traditional ocean-view balcony (the most popular, and what I recommend for the views), plus two interior-facing balconies, one overlooking Central Park and one overlooking the Boardwalk. The Boardwalk balconies are much cheaper, but they are loud most of the day because you are right over the AquaTheater and all the activity, so keep that in mind before you grab the cheaper option.

For the best cabins, midship on a higher deck is the comfortable choice, a few doors away from the elevator banks to avoid corridor noise. If you can swing a suite, the new Suite Neighborhood with Coastal Kitchen is the most exclusive way to sail her. Wonder of the Seas reviews consistently praise the neighborhood layout for spreading out the crowds.

Tip #6: The Real Ways To Save Money

To pull it together: book in advance, and book through a travel agent, because you will often get onboard credit you do not get booking directly with Royal, and you can spend it before you sail on excursions or the internet package. And think hard about the beverage package, it is typically over $70 a day now, and the price varies by sailing, so you would have to drink a lot across seven nights to make it worth it.

A lot of people just like the stress-free, pay-one-price approach, and I get that. But if you are a value cruiser wondering whether you can out-drink the package, maybe know you will probably slow down by day five, six, or seven. Run the math before you buy.

Wonder of the Seas Itinerary

For 2026, Wonder sails from PortMiami on shorter Caribbean and Bahamas weeks, with stops like Perfect Day at CocoCay, Nassau, and St. Thomas depending on the sailing. CocoCay is Royal's private island, and the beach chairs, umbrellas, and lunch are free, with paid upgrades like the Thrill Waterpark and the adults-only Hideaway Beach.

Book any island activities in the app before your cruise, since they sell out. Remember that your drink package and ship Wi-Fi both work ashore on the island.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many passengers are on Wonder of the Seas? Close to 6,990 when she is completely sold out, so plan and book your shows and dining early.

What are the best cabins on Wonder of the Seas? An ocean-view balcony midship on a higher deck is my pick for the views. Inside cabins are a great value, and there are even Promenade-view and Boardwalk-view interiors. Just know the Boardwalk-facing balconies get loud. Suites get the exclusive Suite Neighborhood and Coastal Kitchen.

Is the unlimited dining package worth it on Wonder of the Seas? For me, yes. I paid $249 for seven nights and ate at a specialty restaurant every evening. Favorites are Chops Grille, 150 Central Park, and Hooked.

Is the drink package worth it on Wonder of the Seas? It is over $70 a day now, so do the math. If you will really drink that much across a seven-night sailing, it can pay off, but many value cruisers come out ahead paying as they go.

Should I book excursions through Royal Caribbean? Often yes. They have lowered many excursion prices. Booking through the ship means you will not miss the sailing, and all charges will be added to your account. In busy ports, you can also book independently or explore on your own.

Final Thoughts

I really loved my time on Wonder of the Seas, and I highly recommend it. She is one of the newest ships in the fleet, so everything is fresh. Plus, the Suite Neighborhood and the Wonder Playscape give her features that her older sisters do not have. Book early, do the dining-and-drink-package math, pick your cabin on the deck plan with intention, and you will have an incredible week. I cannot wait to go back.
